About Me And This Site
Hey. What's up? So, you want to know a little bit about me and this site? I don't really have much to say, but I'll try my best to ramble on and on until it looks like I filled a page. Here goes...
I'm a guy who joined a gym in 1999 and has been going consistently ever since. Although, I don't think I actually had ANY idea what I was doing until at least a full year (or more) later. The same goes for my diet, which has also been consistent ever since.
At one point, I weighed 188lbs. Certainly far from being super fat, but still fat enough to want to fix it. So, I was able to lose weight and get down to 155lbs by following the very same weight loss diet this web site is about. That's a total of 33 pounds lost. Nothing too special, but it's still weight loss. I did it at the rate of about 1 or 2 pounds lost per week. If I had to describe what it was like in three words or less, I would honestly say "simple and easy." Seriously. Every week I'd get on the scale and another 1 or 2 pounds would be gone. Soon enough 33 pounds were gone and I was done.
By adjusting my diet and working pretty hard in the gym, I have since worked on gaining muscle and am currently about 175lbs. I think my final goal will be to get to 185-190lbs.
There's a few things about me that might come out through my writing. One is my love of working out. A lot of people hate to workout. They do it to look good and/or be healthy but they hate every second of it. Me on the other hand, I love it. I'm up at 6:00am every workout day to go to the gym. I wake up happy knowing that's what I'm about to do. I love pushing myself physically and mentally. Weight training, cardio, whatever... it's all fun to me.
The other thing is my will power. I'm not bragging here, but I've come to realize that I may have an above average amount of will power. You could lock me in a room with cookies, candy, chocolate, ice cream, potato chips and all kinds of junk food, and the thought of eating any of it wouldn't even enter my mind. The day I realized what my diet needs to be, I gave up all of those types of foods on the spot, cold turkey. I don't have cheat days. I don't have cheat meals. I don't "indulge in moderation." I just don't. I just happen to get more enjoyment out of knowing I don't need it than I would get of out actually eating those foods in the first place. But, that's just me.
I'm guess I'm technically done "losing weight." At this point I'm pretty much just looking to get stronger and increase muscle while making sure my body fat percentage doesn't increase much. If it does, I'll just lose whatever fat I happen to gain along the way. If I make losing fat sound simple, it's because it really is. I know this from first hand experience. Just adjust this here, adjust this there, and poof... weight loss happens. Don't worry, it's all explained on this web site for free. It's what The Lose Weight Diet is all about.
Speaking of that...
About The Lose Weight Diet and TheLoseWeightDiet.com
Why did I make this web site?
Well, the biggest reason is just that I always wanted to make a web site dedicated to weight loss. I've spent a ton of time over the years seeking out all kinds of diet and workout information through magazines, web sites and forums, and the amount of useless, unnecessary, and just plain wrong information out there is just crazy. As if that wasn't bad enough, the amount of people trying to sell this information and/or sell some type of book, supplement, pill, machine, membership or product of some kind is even crazier.
Don't get me wrong, there is indeed some great free useful and truthful information out there (and some great books/products). I just wanted to help add to it.
Regarding The Lose Weight Diet itself, essentially all I really did here was take the most practical and common sense way to lose weight and just gave it an identity. Now it has a name, and a web site, and "Phases" just like every other popular weight loss program around. In a way I took the most non-commercial weight loss diet and made it look like a commercial weight loss diet. Why? Because for some reason, the majority of people on this planet seem to respond to that.
They prefer gimmicks over common sense, and I guess it's really not that hard to see why. Gimmicks are constantly forced upon you. They're in magazines, stores, television and radio commercials. They're everywhere. Gimmicks are being put in front of your face as much as possible so that when you decide you want to lose weight, they'll be the first thing you turn too.
On the other hand, no one is trying to sell you common sense. Sure, nice smart people who don't want your money will ALWAYS recommend the practical approach to weight loss rather than a gimmick or fad. Unfortunately, these nice smart people are greatly outnumbered and outworked by the other people trying to sell you gimmicks and fads.
So I figured, if you can't beat them... join them.
That's sort of how this whole thing started. My idea was to combine the safest, simplest, and most practical way to lose weight with the most common characteristics of a commercial weight loss plan.
Ya know, except for the whole "costing money" part.
First and foremost, it needed a name. A name was the key. This simple common sense method of losing weight has never had a real name. It was just the obvious way to lose weight, so it never had a need for a name. And, if there is one thing every commercial weight loss diet plan and fad diet have in common, it's a catchy name.
So... I started thinking of names. I knew I wanted it to be "The ::something:: Diet." So, I thought and I thought...
"It's a diet... it makes you lose weight... it's a diet that makes you lose weight. Hmmmm."
And soon enough, "The Lose Weight Diet" was the name. I was slightly amused by how literal the name was. In fact, my first thought was how it's "so damn literal." The "so damn literal" line is a reference to a Mitch Hedberg joke. "I wanna see a forklift lift a crate of forks... it would be some damn literal." (Mitch Hedberg was a standup comedian/genius, by the way. He died in 2005.)
Then it needed a way to get to people. There wasn't going to be a book to buy. There weren't going to be television or magazine advertisements. So, the much cheaper and more obvious answer here was a web site.
But, it still felt like it needed just a little more "gimmick" for it to more closely resemble a commercial weight loss plan. Luckily, the information for the diet itself seemed exactly long enough to fit nicely into 3 separate pages. These 3 pages then became the "3 Phases of The Lose Weight Diet." Now how's THAT for gimmicky? It's got commercial weight loss plan written all over it.
While I'd love for The Lose Weight Diet to be mentioned right along side every other popular diet plan, there's also another way I'd like people to view it. Think of it like this...
Pretend you wanted to lose weight but, instead of learning all about diet, nutrition and exercise and sorting through all the scams, gimmicks and fads, you just sent me out to do all of the research for you.
In all honesty, that's very much what this is. The Lose Weight Diet is sort of my "report back" on most of what I've learned about losing weight since 1999. I even have first hand experience to back it up.
It's almost like I did a school science project. I had an objective (how to lose weight), I had materials (myself, food, weights, etc.), I came across many different hypotheses, and I did all of the research and work and experimenting to reach my conclusion... The Lose Weight Diet.
And that's about all. It looks like I filled a page, and that's especially good considering I've run out of things to say. If you want/need any additional information of any kind, feel free to send me an email... TheLoseWeightDiet@gmail.com
The Lose Weight Diet's Ultimate Fat Loss Program
It's been years since I've updated this "about me" page, but now I finally have a good reason too.
Why? Because I just created and released The Lose Weight Diet's Ultimate Fat Loss Program.
I know, I know... products... yuck. I agree, and that's a big part of why everything on this site is and always will be free and have a very noticeable anti-product vibe.
But, after years of still getting asked tons and tons of questions on a daily basis, I decided to finally sit down and put together a guide that would single handedly answer it all.
Whether it's losing fat, building muscle, weight training, cardio, diet and nutrition, or any other topic related to improving the way your body looks, performs or functions, The Lose Weight Diet's Ultimate Fat Loss Program covers it in an insane amount of easy-to-understand detail.
As for why it's a (VERY reasonably priced) "product" and not just another free article on the site, I can assure you that it's NOT because I suddenly became a sellout who only wants your money. Come on, you know me better than that by now.
What actually happened is that I put together a guide so comprehensive and so requiring of my time and effort that it really just couldn't be given away for free. When you actually see it, I'm sure you'll understand.
I know I technically don't have to explain any of this, but I still felt like I should. So, there ya go.
